The other day I got on the elevator with my 6-year-old to walk her to her weekly dance lesson. She had dressed herself in this little pink ballerina getup, with white tights and leg-warmers, and she was the only girl in her class with gloves that she had personally glued pink diamonds onto...just for that something special. I told her that she looked beautiful and quite stylish in her dance outfit, and she said, "Well Daddy, you know, I just kind of know how to rock the fancy." Indeed. I think it's one of her spiritual gifts. The other little girls seemed to like them as well, which prooves that bling is truly an international language.
As for cultural immersion...
here's a birthday-party invite you don't see every day:
"Lydia and Danielle are 6 year old girls & invite you all to their birthday party!"
We decided on a joint birthday party w/ one of Lydia's friends from Gan. Thank goodness for us, not only are her parents dear friends of ours, but her Mom just happens to a fabulous graphic designer (you didn't think we did this ourselves, did you?!?)
We'll save party pictures for another blog...this was just a teaser.
Till then, Shalom Y'all!
Stew
