Luxembourg

Since all the yummy food was barricaded and off limits in the stores, and Israelis were flooding every inch of free outdoor space to celebrate the Pesach holiday, we decided this would be a good time to do a little traveling outside of Israel. Time to get the heck out of dodge. Stewart had lots of busy work to do at Ramstein Air Base, so we decided the whole family would tag along and make a European vacation out of it. We rented a car from Germany, and we are on the road to Prague and Krakow.

But first, a stop in Luxembourg. This was a genuine surprise that made for a great day-trip.

Luxembourg is Europe's smallest country, situated between Germany, France, & the Belgium. The capitol, Luxembourg, is a stunningly beautiful old European city. Honestly, it reminded us something out of a Walt Disney fairy-tale movie.

They even speak their own language there: Luxembourgish. It's a mix of French, German, & freaky-deeky Dutch. Fortunately, most folks were happy to practice their English with us.

Of course, you have to take a break from history & architecture to have some fun.

Even the simple things can be a little overwhelming in a foreign country...

The view from the city down onto the Abby. The kids explored the caves that were cut in the rock overlooking the old city. They were looking for either Rapunzel or Sleeping Beauty, I'm not sure.

Despite Elizabeth's great effort at utilizing the BX at Ramstein AFB to the maximum, she left unsatisfied. So we corrected the situation by a little shopping in Luxembourg center-city. The kids got in on the action, too. Very Euro-stylin, right?
